How we praise our children has a long lasting effect on their lives.

To instill self-confidence in our children, we need to be more “selective” in our praise and replace “evaluative” praise with more “descriptive” praise. We need to praise our children’s effort rather than tell them that they are smart (otherwise they can become afraid of failure) and praise the details rather than praise the overall achievement.
